It is rare for me to go back and rework a painting but that’s what happened here. I painted ‘Limelight in 2024 after a demo. I took on the approach that Lily took and was excited about my results. Over time I realised that by using zinc white, which is colder than titanium, the painting didn’t feel like my work. Every time I looked at it it bugged me.
I was late taking my work to my wonderful framer and I thought I’d take the opportunity to rework Limelight and if it was better I thought I could put it back in its frame and that I’d have another piece of framed ‘new work’.
‘Limelight’ became ‘Starry Limelight’ when I alized the background needed some yellow. The refurb took me two days. I had to make many changes to make it work!
