egg tempera on panel. 31 x 30, March 2026
Title from Lullaby of Spring, by Donovan.
Here are the first two stanzas.
… Rain has showered far her drip
Splash and trickle running,
Plant has flowered in the sand
Shell and pebble sunning.
… So begins another spring,
Green leaves and of berries,
Chiff-chaff eggs are painted by
Mother bird eating cherries.
We aren’t quite to the birds stripping our cherry tree yet, but the ants are back in the polytunnel; my zinnias have sprouted and the bulbs are pushing through the leaves.
