Snakes and all that Jazz
When I went to India with my mother in 1983, I saw snake charmers. I remember one in Varanasi. Later, I lived in the snake capital of the world, the Kerio Valley and had multiple terrifying experiences with snakes. After that, I lived in Singapore where I learned about Chinese New Year and the 12 zodiac signs associated with it. This is my first Year of Snake painting.
Snake charmers live nomadic lives and use music to hypnotise the snakes to perform. This year
The snake is a wood snake and that signifies growth, stability and creativity. And they are mysterious. The colours for this year are red, yellow and black. The snake is the sixth sign of the zodiac
I began gathering items by choosing a beautiful antique embroidered Chinese silk gown that my textile collector mother gifted me. The flowers weren’t really red and the inside of the gown dictated pink. An Amalfi Lemon adds the touch of yellow.
